State-of-the-Art Heart Hospital Advances Cardiovascular Care in Frisco, Texas

A new chapter in advanced cardiovascular care is taking shape in Frisco, Texas, as Baylor Scott & White Health expands its presence with a state‑of‑the‑art Heart Hospital adjacent to the PGA Frisco Medical Center. Designed to meet the rising demand for specialized cardiac services in North Texas, the six‑story, 171,530‑square‑foot acute care facility reflects BSWH’s commitment to innovation, precision, and exceptional patient outcomes. Its structural systems required an extraordinary level of coordination and constructability to support complex concrete work and the performance needs of a modern cardiovascular treatment center.

GPLA provided comprehensive structural modeling and detailing services to enhance constructability, improve installation certainty, and support accurate material planning from the earliest design phases. By advancing reinforcement layouts, concrete detailing, and quantity development before the design was finalized, GPLA helped identify potential constructability challenges sooner, reduce rework, and supply more reliable information for procurement and scheduling. This proactive detailing approach clarified reinforcement requirements, placement expectations, and material quantities, giving the project team the level of definition necessary for efficient field installation and successful prefabricated assembly workflows.

Throughout the project, GPLA’s detailing work was also used to track and reconcile reinforcement quantities as releases progressed. The ability to forecast and monitor rebar tonnage by element provided the DPR team with greater confidence during estimating and procurement, particularly for self-perform concrete scopes. Maintaining alignment between the detailing model, released quantities, and subcontractor pricing helped reduce uncertainty and supported consistent execution from procurement through field installation.
